Charitable Giving

As well as using incoming funds to support the work of the local and national church, we are also keen to donate a proportion of money to other worthy causes.

Shown below are our charitable donations made since the beginning of 2012. In addition to this, our church members are also heavily involved in annual Christian Aid collections and personally support a wide array of charities.

Mitcheldean Lunch Club

We donated funds of £66.00 in December 2013 to establish a local Lunch Club. With our friends from Forest Gate Church and the Parish and District councils, members of our church take part in running this ongoing initiative on a monthly basis.

The Lord's Larder Food Bank

We hold continual collections of Tinned Food, Dried Food and Toiletries for our local Food Bank, which is based in Newent.

Fairtrade Foundation

We are working towards using only fairly-traded tea, coffee and other goods, and encouraging others to do the same.

The Salvation Army (Gloucester)

This charity was chosen as one of our 2016 'Christmas Charities' and received £87.00 in early 2017.

Cancer Research UK

This charity was chosen as one of our 2015 'Christmas Charities' and subsequently received £80.00 in early 2016, followed by £87.00 in early 2017.

Water Aid

In 2015 we donated £156.00 to Water Aid and a further £130.00 followed in 2016.

Multiple Sclerosis Society

This charity was chosen as one of our 2014 and 2016 'Christmas Charities' and subsequently received £60.00 in early 2015, followed by £87.00 in early 2017.

Disasters Emergency Committee

This charity was chosen as one of our 2014 'Christmas Charities' and subsequently received £60.00 in early 2015.

Christian Aid

Christian Aid received £334.00 in 2015 and £420.00 in 2016.

Priest College in Tanzania

In September 2014 we donated £250.00 to pay the college fees for one student at a Priest's College in Tanzania. We again donated £250.00 in 2015.

Free Burma Rangers

In June 2014, we held a 'Burma Evening', with burmese-inspired food and information on the work of the Free Burma Rangers. £240.00 was raised to support this charity.

Dene Magna School

We regularly support the School's Achievement Evening, with donations of £20.00 in June 2012, £60.00 in June 2013, £60.00 in June 2014, £60.00 in June 2015 and £30.00 in 2016.

James Hopkins Trust

The James Hopkins Trust has often been one of our 'Christmas Charities' , receiving £105.00 in early 2012, £105.00 in early 2013, £130.00 in early 2014, £60.00 in early 2015, £80.00 in 2016 and £87.00 in early 2017. In addition, we also donated £500.00 in May 2013.

Save the Children

Save the Children has been one of our 'Christmas Charities' several times in recent years, receiving £105.00 in early 2013 and £130.00 in early 2014.

The Alzheimer's Society

The Alzheimer's Society was chosen as a 'Christmas Charity' in 2013 and received £130.00 in early 2014, with a further £60.00 donated in 2015.

Great Oaks Hospice

The local Great Oaks Hospice was chosen as a 'Christmas Charity' in 2013 and received £130.00 in early 2014.

Mitcheldean Endowed Primary School

We donated £345.40 to our local primary school in December 2013 to pay for all of the children's Christmas lunches and £50 in March 2014 for Easter Eggs. We also donated £80.00 in 2015 as competition prize money.

The Bishop's Charity

As the focus of the Bishop's Lent Challenge in 2013, the project to support the establishment of a secondary school in Western Tanganyika received £207.14. We also donated £226.00 to the Bishop's Charity in November 2014.

Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust

As previous recipients of GHCT funding, we have supported the Trust with donations of £100.00 in March 2013, £200.00 in October 2013, £100.00 in November 2014, £100.00 in 2015 and £100.00 in 2016.

The League of Friends of Dilke Hospital

The League of Friends has been one of our 'Christmas Charities' several times in recent years, receiving £105.00 in early 2012 and £105.00 in early 2013.

Severn Area Rescue

SARA has been one of our 'Christmas Charities' several times in recent years, receiving £105.00 in early 2012, £105.00 in early 2013, £80.00 in 2016 and £87.00 in early 2017.

Midland Air Ambulance

Midlands Air Ambulance has been one of our 'Christmas Charities' several times in recent years, receiving £105.00 in early 2012, £105.00 in early 2013 and £130.00 in early 2014.

The Children's Society

The Children's Society has received two donations from us in recent years, £45.00 in January 2012 and £40.30 in February 2013.

The National Historic Churches Trust

The Trust received a donation of £525.00 in January 2013.

Farm Africa

We donated £455.65 to Farm Africa in November 2012.

The Royal British Legion

We regularly donate to the British Legion, raising £108.63 in January 2012, £123.79 in October 2012, £120.70 in October 2013, £180.00 in November 2014 and £248.00 in 2015.

Forest Gate Church

We donated £100.00 to our friends at Forest Gate Church in October 2012.

Us

Us has received donations of £108.63 in January 2012, £123.79 in October 2012, £120.70 in October 2013, £19.00 in December 2014 and £51.00 in 2015.

Help for Heroes

We donated £105.00 to Help for Heroes in October 2012.
