Our churches are there for the community and everybody is welcome to look around, to spend some time being quiet or to pray. In Mitcheldean church it is possible to light a candle as a sign of your prayer and in both churches to write the name of those you are praying for on a piece of paper and to leave it both as a sign of your prayer but also so that others can read it and add their prayers to yours.
Mitcheldean Church is open daily 8.00am until 4.00pm. Abenhall Church is open to visitors by arrangement with the church warden. (Contact Sheila Baker on 01594 543522).
Many have benefited from keeping a time for prayer each day. To help with this the Church of England offers a convenient way to share the prayer life of the Church online. Click on the links below to display a complete prayer service for today including the lectionary appointed readings and psalms. Across the Church of England, hundreds if not thousands of Christians will be using this same service along with you!
The Julian Prayer group is an ecumenical gathering of people who meet together for silent and contemplative prayer. Some of the group have no formal church links, though most belong to a worshipping community. The meetings last for half an hour and those involved are led into silence, resting in God's presence, with a short reading and some quiet and meditative music.
